WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — An 84-year-old Wayne County man has been arrested and charged with three felony counts of indecent liberties with a child following a sheriff’s office investigation that uncovered decades-old allegations of sexual abuse.

Donnie Ray Colmore was taken into custody by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office after investigators say he admitted to inappropriate sexual contact with multiple juvenile victims during a formal interview.

The investigation began when authorities received allegations of inappropriate sexual contact involving a juvenile. During the course of that investigation, detectives identified three additional victims who were allegedly victimized by Colmore approximately 25 years ago.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Colmore made admissions regarding the three additional victims during questioning. Based on those admissions and the ongoing investigation, authorities obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Colmore has been charged with three felony counts of indecent liberties with a child. He was released from custody on a $60,000 unsecured bond.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about the case, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation and the involvement of juvenile victims.
