July 26, 2025, 71, Goldsboro —-
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Terri Sasser, a beloved mother, mema, and friend, who left this world on July 26, 2025 at the age of 71. She was a woman of deep kindness, sharp intellect, and a zest for life that inspired all who knew her.
Born in Wayne County on November 7, 1953, Terri was known early on for her warmth, generosity, and natural leadership. Her kind heart and keen business sense led her to a successful career in property management, where she not only thrived professionally, but also mentored and uplifted those around her.
She had an adventurous spirit and a passport full of memories—traveling near and far with a suitcase in one hand and joy in her heart. Whether it was a spontaneous road trip or a dream vacation across the globe, Terry lived for new experiences, colorful cultures, and meeting people from all walks of life.
Those who knew Terri best knew her fondness for the occasional roll of the dice or spin of the wheel. A trip to the casino was never about luck—it was about laughter, bonding, and the thrill of the game. Her stories from the tables were as vibrant and unforgettable as she was.
But more than anything, Terri cherished her family—especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She was their biggest cheerleader, their warmest hug, and their most trusted confidante. Her legacy of love, wisdom, and wit lives on through them.
Terri is survived by her two daughters, Shanna Gurley and husband, Steve of Dover, NC. and Melissa Hoskins of Pikeville; two step-daughters, Kim Guy and husband, Alan of Walstonburg and Kristy Sasser of Little Washington; her brother, Tommy Beavers and wife, Tammy of Seven Springs; her sister, Renee Beavers of Oriental; her grandchildren, Jenny Cox (Justin), Taylor Cox (Billy), Heather Giuliani (Dan), Gabe Gurley (Allie), Nathan Gurley (Kimberly) and Luke Gurley; step-grandchildren, Dylan Costello (Abbey), Allen Walker (Casey) and Drew Walker (Sydney); her great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Warren, Aubrey Cox, Adalyn Warren, Allison Warren, Addison Reinhard and Hayden Bradley and her step-great-grandchildren, Lawson Walker, Lainey Walker and Adaley Walker.
Terri was preceded in death by her parents, the late Eugene Thomas and Dora Adeline Williams Beavers and also her husband, Dan Allen Sasser. Her memory will continue to be a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hope Center Ministries, 1175 Buck Swamp Rd., Pikeville NC 27863 in her honor.
