WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — StageStruck: The Young People’s Own Theatre will hold auditions for its upcoming production of Lionel Bart’s beloved musical “Oliver!” with separate audition dates scheduled for different grade levels this month.
Students in grades 4-8 can audition on August 11th, while high school students in grades 9-12 will audition on August 12th. Both audition sessions will run from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Callbacks are scheduled for August 16th from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The registration deadline for all auditions is August 9th at 11:59 p.m. Interested students can register online, and questions can be directed to [email protected].
Long-Standing Community Institution
StageStruck has been a cornerstone of youth theater in Wayne County since 1991, providing local children and teenagers with opportunities to experience the performing arts. The organization serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade in Wayne and surrounding counties.
As an affiliate of the Arts Council of Wayne County and a member of the American Association of Community Theatre, StageStruck operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. While the company receives annual funding from the North Carolina Arts Council, it relies primarily on community support through ticket sales, grants, and sponsorships.
The organization’s mission is to encourage young people’s knowledge of, interest in, and participation in the theatrical performing arts, reflecting its commitment to youth development through theater.
Community-Driven Organization
StageStruck continues to operate as a parent-run organization, governed by a Board of Trustees and supported by a growing membership base across Wayne and neighboring counties. All donations to the organization are fully tax-deductible.
The upcoming production of “Oliver!” marks another opportunity for area youth to participate in professional-quality theater while developing performance skills and building confidence on stage.
