Man Charged in Family Altercation That Left Relative Hospitalized

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon following a violent family dispute that occurred earlier this month in Wayne County.

Kyrique Laquay Sampson was taken into custody and booked into the Wayne County Detention Center after an investigation into a July 8 altercation that left one family member with multiple stab and slash wounds.

According to authorities, the incident began as a fight involving multiple family members. During the altercation, one individual was stabbed and slashed multiple times, sustaining serious injuries that required medical attention.

Police investigators worked to piece together the events of that day, ultimately determining there was sufficient evidence to file charges against Sampson. He was served with an arrest warrant and faces one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Sampson is currently being held at the Wayne County Detention Center on a $1,500 secured bond.
