KINSTON, NC – The Youth Empowerment Association (YEA) is preparing to help students in Lenoir County and surrounding communities gear up for the new school year with their annual Back 2 School Sunday event, featuring free school supplies and family-friendly activities.
The event will take place on Sunday, July 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Living Hope Church, located at 2217 Daly Waldrop Road in Kinston. The three-hour celebration combines practical back-to-school preparation with summer entertainment designed to bring families together before the academic year begins.
YEA will distribute free backpacks filled with essential school supplies to students, while also providing complimentary food for attendees. The organization emphasizes that students must be present to receive a backpack, and families are encouraged to arrive early as supplies are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
The event will feature a “Splash Party” component with 50-foot super slides, perfect for beating the summer heat. Additionally, a party game truck will be on-site, offering various entertainment options for children and families. Organizers recommend that attendees bring towels for the water activities.
Living Hope Church is serving as the host venue for this community initiative. The event represents YEA’s ongoing commitment to supporting local students and families as they transition into the new academic year.
Families interested in attending can find the church at 2217 Daly Waldrop Road, Kinston, NC 28504. The event runs while supplies last, making early arrival particularly important for those hoping to secure back-to-school materials for their children.
