GOLDSBORO, N.C. — As the new school year approaches, Communities Supporting Schools of Wayne County, Inc. is mobilizing community partners for its annual school supply drive and expanding its elementary reading buddy program to serve four local schools.
The nonprofit organization will distribute supplies to every school in Wayne County at the beginning of the academic year, continuing a tradition of ensuring students have the materials they need to succeed. This year’s initiative comes as schools prepare to welcome students back after the summer break.
The organization noted that it is hard to believe that it is time for school will begin soon. As always, the nonprofit is “gearing up” for its school supply drive.
In addition to collecting school supplies, the organization is actively recruiting volunteers to serve as “reading buddies” at four elementary schools: North Drive, Carver Elementary, Carver Heights, and Brogden Primary. The reading buddy program pairs community volunteers with young students to support literacy development and provide one-on-one reading assistance.
Community members and organizations interested in supporting either initiative can find detailed information about donation options on the nonprofit’s website at www.waynecss.org. The site also offers newsletter signup for those wanting regular updates on the organization’s activities.
