Peggy Webb Rhodes

Peggy Webb Rhodes

July 15, 2025, 89, Goldsboro —-

She was born on January 19th, 1936, to the late James Webb and Mae Webb. Peggy was a woman of deep faith, boundless love, and strength. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Lou Rhodes; her daughter, Vickie Smith; and great-grandchildren Melissa Whitley, Kimberly Goodfellow, Thomas Goodfellow, and Grayson Goodfellow.

She is survived by her devoted children: daughter, Linda Taylor and her husband, Gary; son, Timothy Rhodes and his wife, Suzanne; and by her loving son-in-law, Keith Smith, husband of her late daughter Vickie. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Melissa Goodfellow, Keith Smith II, Heather Whitley, Jennifer Tingen, Bryan Price, Stephen Rhodes, and Stephanie Myers, as well as 16 great-grandchildren who were the light of her life.

Peggy was a loving mother and Mema, always putting her family first. She had a gift for making everyone feel at home, especially around her table. She could cook up a feast that brought the whole family together, and her meals were filled with love and warmth—and were always more than enough.

She was also the truest example of a godly wife: strong, loyal, and hardworking. She worked side by side with her husband in every season of life, including right beside him in the field, even on the tractor. Her love was not only spoken but lived out in every act of service, devotion, and strength.

She had a deep love for flowers and gardening and could take a root from just about any kind of plant and make it grow—a true gift from God. Her green thumb brought life and beauty to everything she touched. She also spent many peaceful hours crocheting, lovingly creating pieces that warmed both hands and hearts.

Most of all, Peggy loved the Lord and lived her life with a spirit of grace, compassion, and kindness. She loved deeply and unconditionally, and everyone who knew her felt that love. To know her was to be blessed by her.

She will be deeply missed, but her faith, her warmth, and her legacy will forever bloom in the lives she touched.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. a Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Peggy’s life at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
