MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — University of Mount Olive graduate student Dominic Nutter will represent Team USA in the hammer throw at the 2025 World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, taking place July 16-27, 2025. The event will be held across six German cities and will feature around 8,500 student-athletes from over 150 countries competing in 18 sports.
Competition Details:
- Nutter will compete in hammer throw on Tuesday, July 22, at Lohrheidestadion in Bochum
- Finals are scheduled for Sunday, July 27 for qualifiers
Nutter’s Achievements:
- Five-time All-American honoree from Johnstown, Ohio
- Recently earned third First-Team All-American honor in hammer throw
- Placed 7th at 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championship with a 61.28-meter throw
- Named USTFCCCA Southeast Region Field Athlete of the Year and Conference Carolinas Athlete of the Year
About the Games: The World University Games, originally starting in 1923 in Paris, evolved into the modern “Universiade” in 1959 and were renamed “FISU World University Games” in 2020. They now represent the most important competition in international university sport, held every two years.
