GOLDSBORO, N.C — The City of Goldsboro has officially launched its public engagement campaign for the Elevate Goldsboro Land Use Plan, unveiling a comprehensive online platform designed to gather community input in an accessible and convenient format.
Digital Platform Goes Live
The city has created a dedicated website where residents can learn about the project, participate in online surveys, and explore interactive maps highlighting areas of particular concern. The platform represents the first phase of a broader outreach campaign aimed at maximizing community participation in the planning process.
“This is designed to receive public input from the city in a way that is easy and convenient for the community of Goldsboro,” Helmer voiced.
Multi-Channel Outreach Strategy
The campaign extends beyond the website, incorporating social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter. Additionally, an electronic message board at the hub will be utilized to keep residents informed about project developments and upcoming opportunities for engagement.
Project Timeline and Advisory Committee
The website features a detailed project timeline outlining the plan’s development phases. Phase one has already established an advisory committee and completed project branding. The advisory committee has held its initial meeting and is scheduled to convene four additional times throughout the process.
The committee will receive priority access to key components of the plan, allowing them to review documents before they are presented to the broader public.
Upcoming Community Events
Community Engagement Session
The first major community engagement event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30th in a large conference room. The session will feature exercises designed to gather data points and information from residents regarding their concerns, interests, and vision for the city’s future.
Center Street Popup Event
A popup event is planned for Center Street, though organizers note that details are still being finalized. This main event aims to bring the planning process directly to the community.
City Council Workshops
City council joint workshops are scheduled for later this year and early next year, providing additional opportunities for public input and official review.
Final Review Process
Phase three of the project will begin once the document is formulated and reviewed by all necessary parties. The plan will then be submitted to the planning commission, which will have at least 30 days to conduct their review. Following the commission’s assessment, the document will proceed to city council for final review and approval.
How to Participate
Residents can access the engagement platform through the City of Goldsboro website or The Elevate Goldsboro website by visiting directly. The platform offers multiple ways for community members to contribute to the planning process and stay informed about project developments.
The Elevate Goldsboro Land Use Plan represents a significant opportunity for residents to shape their city’s future development and growth patterns through meaningful public participation.
