GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A 39-year-old man died early Sunday morning after being shot on East Ash Street, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 3:10 a.m. on July 13, 2025, and found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds upon arrival at the scene.

The victim, identified as Derrick Maye, was transported by emergency medical services to UNC Health Wayne, where he later died from his injuries.

The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau has taken over the case, and the investigation remains ongoing.

No arrests have been announced, and police have not released information about potential suspects or motives in the shooting.
