Grace Rouse Bennett, age 104, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord after a long and fruitful life. Born on March 7, 1921, in Lenoir County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Edward Rouse and Susie Mae Taylor Rouse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Donnell Bennett, and her two brothers.

Grace dedicated 26 years of loyal service to Smith Hardware Company, where she was a valued and respected employee. A devoted member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church, she found great joy in worship and fellowship with her church community.

Grace will be fondly remembered for her kind spirit and her enduring love for cats, a passion that brought her much happiness throughout her life.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel, officiated by Rev. Patrick Muston and I.K. Williamson. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Though Grace leaves no immediate family, she is survived by her dear friends Holly Sutton and Shirley Sullivan, along with many cherished friends at Brookdale Country Day Road.

Special appreciation is extended to the staff with Gentiva who provided Hospice care allowing Grace to spend her final months at Brookdale. The love and selflessness shown during Grace’s final days has truly been a blessing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Madison Avenue Baptist Church, 300 S. Madison Avenue, Goldsboro, NC 27530, or to the Wayne County Animal Shelter, 1600 Clingman Street, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
