Leadership Wayne Program Opens Applications for Emerging Professionals

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — The Leadership Wayne program has announced that applications are now open for its comprehensive leadership development initiative, with submissions due by September 9th. The program is specifically designed for emerging professionals who demonstrate strong potential and seeks to cultivate growth, service, and meaningful community impact throughout Wayne County.

Program Focuses on Three Core Development Areas

Leadership Wayne has structured its curriculum around three fundamental values that guide participant development:

Discover Wayne encourages participants to explore local nonprofit organizations, attend board meetings, and identify meaningful ways to contribute to their community. This component helps emerging leaders understand the broader landscape of civic engagement opportunities.

Grow & Develop Leadership Skills incorporates team-building exercises, monthly forums, and culminates in participants leading a Community Action Project (CAP). This hands-on approach ensures that leadership development extends beyond theoretical learning.

Build Deeper Relationships facilitates connections with established local leaders, entrepreneurs, and fellow program participants, creating a network that supports ongoing professional and personal growth.

Comprehensive Curriculum Covers Multiple Sectors

The program features an extensive schedule of specialized sessions designed to provide participants with diverse perspectives on leadership and community engagement:

The Opening Retreat introduces participants to Emotional Intelligence 2.0 concepts and includes DISC Assessment tools to help identify individual leadership styles and communication preferences.

History Day focuses on leadership principles, advocacy skills, and innovation strategies, providing historical context for effective community leadership.

Business, Industry & Agriculture Day emphasizes capacity building and networking opportunities, connecting participants with key economic drivers in the region.

Health Care Day addresses purposeful inclusion practices, highlighting the importance of diverse perspectives in healthcare leadership and community wellness initiatives.

Law & Government Day explores influence and crucial conversation skills, preparing participants to engage effectively with civic institutions and public policy discussions.

Agri-Business Day concentrates on communicating the right message, particularly relevant given Wayne County’s agricultural significance and the need for effective rural-urban dialogue.

Seymour Johnson AFB Day covers goal-setting and time management skills, leveraging the military installation’s expertise in strategic planning and operational efficiency.

Education Day focuses on positive problem-solving techniques, addressing one of the community’s most critical sectors for future development.

The program concludes with Community Service, Arts & Leisure Day and a Closing Retreat that emphasizes conflict management skills, ensuring participants leave with practical tools for addressing community challenges.
