Lana Carol Kornegay Coker, resident of the Beautancus community near Mount Olive, passed away Thursday evening, June 26, 2025, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.  She was 79.

Lana Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Sadie Ezzell Kornegay, several of her siblings, Coy Kornegay, Carlton Kornegay, Charles Kornegay, Ransom “Dick” Kornegay, and Rachel K. Kornegay; and brothers-in-law, Scott Kornegay, Barney Dail, and Dick Ward.

She leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Felicia C. and Tracy Brogden of Mount Olive; three grandchildren, Nathan Stafford, Haley Stafford and fiance, Kolby Anderson, and Nikki Lopes and fiance, Dylan Heath; two great-grandchildren, Jayden Anderson and Owen Heath; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Wilma K. and Warren Jones and Eva K. Taylor, both of Mount Olive, and Vicki K. Dail of Calypso; along with several nieces and nephews and their families.

Lana Carol, a member of the Stanford Presbyterian Church, was a hard-working lady who always made a way to provide for her familly.  She will be remembered for her long-time association with the North Duplin schools as she was a cafeteria worker and also served as a bus driver.  

Her family will receive friends on Monday, June 30, from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home.  Graveside funeral services will be Tuesday, July 1, at 10:00 a..m. in Mount Olive’s Maplewood Cemetery.  Officiating will be the Rev. Christopher Turner.

Family and friends are also being received at the home of Felicia and Tracy Brogden.
