Joseph “Joe” Edward Bailey, 78, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Wayne County on April 26, 1947, he was son to the late J.T. Bailey and Feddie Scott Bailey.

Joe had a love for softball and could often be found on the field or cheering from the sidelines. In retirement, Joe found great joy working at Lane Tree Golf Course, combining his enjoyment of golf with his appreciation for the outdoors.

Joe will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, and the joy he brought to those around him. His love for his family was unwavering, and he took great pride in the time he spent with them. He was full of energy and always brought laughter wherever he went. His sharp wit and playful spirit made him a joy to be around.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Pool Bailey; his children, Joey Bailey and wife, Jenny, Emily Clarke and husband, Mattew, Linzy Baker and husband, Brian and Missy “Baby Girl” Bailey; his grandchildren, Joseph Bailey, III, James Bailey, Seth Clarke, Hannah Clarke, Macy Baker and Aiden Baker.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Jackson and Johnny Lucas; and his mother by heart, Mildred Jackson Bailey.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. A service to honor Joe’s life will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Michael Crocker officiating.
