Joseph Robert DePalantino, 79, passed away late Monday evening, June 23 while being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice center in Goldsboro. 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years; Judy Johnson DePalantino; his two daughters and their husbands, Sheryl Van Horn and Adam of Dallas, GA, and Melissa Brady and Richie of Princeton, NC; He is also survived by his grandchildren which he adored, Caden, Ella, and Gavin Van Horn, and Ian and Owen Brady; a brother, Glenn DePalantino and his wife Donna of PA; and nephew, Rich DePalantino and wife Julianna.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph and Angelina Sacco DePalantino.

Joe was an active member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed being a part of the choir, was a member of the church’s’ Quartet, and was always present for any event that was held. He retired from his career as the Administrative Director at Wayne UNC Hospital. Joe also served his country in the United States Air Force, and was very proud of his time there.

Joe will be remembered as a loving husband to Judy, caring father to his beloved girls, and Pop Pop to his grandchildren. He was a devoted Christian example to his family and friends, and always spent time in the Word.

Funeral services will be held at Faith Free Will Baptist Church on Friday, June 27 at 7 o’clock in the evening with Pastor Christian Powell officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:30 until service time. Burial will be held privately at the Eastern North Carolina Veterans Cemetery, Goldsboro.
