WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has issued a Heat Advisory and an Extreme Heat Watch for much of central North Carolina, affecting Person, Granville, Vance, Warren, Halifax, and 22 other counties beginning Monday morning.
What to Expect
- Heat Advisory in effect: From 11:00 AM Monday to 10:00 AM Tuesday
- Extreme Heat Watch in effect: From Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening
During the advisory period, heat index values are expected to range between 105°F and 109°F. As the region transitions into the watch period, heat index values may climb even higher, reaching 110°F to 112°F, creating dangerously hot conditions.
