Edna Garris Stancil, 78, Seven Springs area resident, passed away in the early evening Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Wayne UNC Healthcare.

Ms. Stancil had been employed as an income maintenance social worker, first with Wayne County Department of Social Services for a short while, followed by Lenoir County Department of Social Services from which she retired.

She will be remembered for her love for pretty flowers and plants which adorned her home and yard.  She enjoyed the country way of living, and looked forward to each early summer when it was time for canning and freezing of fresh vegetables from the garden.  She liked to crochet, and was fascinated with any thing involving peacock decor.  She was a kind neighbor who brought happiness to those around her with her quiet ways of helping and spreading good cheer.  She was also known to love and enjoy the company of cats and kittens.

Ms. Stancil’s family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home on Sunday, June 22, from 3 until 5 p.m., during which time, the Rev. Ashley Summerlin will offer brief words of remembrance.  She will be buried in the Pineview  Cemetery following a private committal service.  Friends and relatives are also being received at the home of Paul and Judy Stancil

Surviving her are her three children and their spouses, Paul and Judy Stancil of the Seven Springs area, Nicki S. and Chris Currie of Pittsboro, and Chuck and Dawn Stancil of the Seven Springs area; a brother, Allen Garris of the Rosewood area of Goldsboro; grandchldren, Brookie Stancil, Morgan Stancil, Zack Hildebrandt, Bethany Warren, Chloe Currie, Michael Webster, J. C. Webster, and Ethan English; and great-grandchildren, Ashton Stancil, Jordyn Lee Ward, Daxton Lee Ward, Addi Webster, Greyson Dunn, and another on the way.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Register; a brother, Gilbert Willliam Garris; and parents, Allen Tank Garris and Mary Margaret Price Garris.
