Jerry Lee Parker

June 9, 2025, 70, Goldsboro —

Master Sergeant (Ret.) Jerry Lee Parker, age 70, of Goldsboro, passed away at home peacefully on June 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 24, 1955, in Hastings, Michigan, Jerry was the beloved son of the late William Earl Parker and Audrey Allison Parker.

Jerry proudly served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Air Force for 19 years, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. A true patriot, his military career reflected his deep sense of duty, leadership, and pride in service.

During his time in the Air Force, Jerry formed many lifelong friendships, including a special bond with his dear friend Jim Dodrill. Their friendship of 48 years began as young roommates in the 4th MMS Squadron and continued as they transitioned to the 4th AGS. Their camaraderie was forged in service and strengthened over the years with unforgettable memories—especially the joy they shared riding motorcycles together, a pastime that brought them freedom, laughter, and lasting stories.

After retiring from the military, Jerry earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Mount Olive. He went on to serve another two decades as a Human Resources Manager and Distribution Manager at Butterball, where he was known and respected for his fairness, compassion, and unwavering integrity.

Jerry was a man who lived to serve—not just in uniform or in the workplace, but also in his community. He participated in Relay for Life and served as a proud member of the honor guard, always ready to support and honor others.

While Jerry accomplished much in his career and community, his greatest joy came from his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, “Papaw,” and friend. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren—watching baseball and soccer games, attending dance recitals, fishing at their special fishing spot, and gathering for family dinners. He also treasured hunting trips with his brother-in-law Rodney and enjoyed peaceful moments with his wife at the beach, especially their late-night pier fishing adventures—quiet, simple times that reflected the love they shared.

Jerry will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, father, “Papaw,” brother, and friend. His sense of humor, selflessness, and deep love for those around him made him the heart of his family. His legacy of service, kindness, and laughter will live on in the many lives he touched.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Nancy Parker; his daughter Kristin Koekkoek (Frank); his sons Jack Ryan Parker and Kyle Bryce Parker; and his adored grandchildren: Carleigh Koekkoek, Kamdyn Koekkoek, Kyndall Koekkoek, Kailyn Koekkoek, Konner Koekkoek, and Gavin Parker. He also leaves behind his siblings, Jeroldine Owens (Rodney), Stanley Parker, and Ricky Parker; his Goddaughter, Alyssa Lackey; as well as many special nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends.

Jerry’s absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Relay for Life or Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, whose compassionate care brought great comfort during Jerry’s final days.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Seymour Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., followed by a service of life at 1:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will take place at Wayne Memorial Park immediately following the service.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
