Carolina Athletic Park, Goldsboro —- It didn’t take long for Wayne County Post 11(10-2) to get things started in the first versus Raleigh starter Jacob Lyjordan.
Lawson Tyndall would reach on a shortstop throwing error and steal second. After CJ Radford pinch ran for Tyndall(the catcher), Wyatt Lassiter would draw the 3-2 walk and both would pull off the double steal. A Carter Adams bloop single to shallow right made it 2-0.
A throwing error off the bat of Carson Tew to third would score Adams and Mason Hamm, who had walked and stolen second to make it 4-0 Good Guys after 1.
Meanwhile Post 11 starter Jack Cunningham(1-0) would keep Raleigh in check through 3, striking out 3 and allowing just 1 hit.
Wayne County would put the game out of reach in the third on a Brayden Mckee triple over the head of the right fielder made it 7-0. Then after a wild pitch brought McKee home, Chandler Hill laced a double to left to make it a 9-0 game after 3.
The Post 11 run total would rest at 11 in the 4th when a throw by Lyjordan to try to catch Garrett Byrd stealing third would sail into left field and score 2 more Wayne runners.
Post 11 relievers Blake Easom and McKee were called on to close out the game in innings four and five.
Wayne County returns to action at home next Tuesday, June 17th at 7pm when they host the Garner Nationals at Carolina Athletic Park.
