Wayne County Post 11 Kicks Off 2025 Season with Thrilling Home Opener Against Wake Forest

Goldsboro, N.C. — Wayne County Post 11 is set to take the field tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Carolina Athletic Park, opening their 2025 season at home against Wake Forest. Fans will get their first glimpse of a team determined to defend last year’s state championship title.

The squad features a mix of fresh talent alongside several key veterans who were instrumental in bringing Wayne County its first-ever American Legion State Title and nearly reaching the American Legion World Series. Riding high from an 11-6 road victory over Wilson Post 13 last week, Post 11 enters the matchup with strong momentum.

Anchored by University of Mount Olive commits Wyatt Lassiter, Brayden McKee, and current UMO pitcher John Nelson McLamb, the pitching staff is formidable. They are supported by returning starters Baines Raynor, CJ Radford, and Jack Cunningham, creating a deep and experienced lineup. Under the direction of Head Coach Adam Pate and his seasoned coaching staff, the team emphasizes an aggressive style of play that has become its trademark.

And when you hear Hells Bells by ACDC played over the public address, opposing teams know it’s over when they see Post 11 Closer Ayden West make the jog in from the bullpen.

Wayne County’s schedule is packed with tough competition, including challenging road games against perennial Legion powerhouses such as Rowan County, Cherryville, Wilmington, and Garner. The team will also face some of South Carolina’s best at the NC/SC Challenge later this month.

Home fans have plenty to look forward to with key games scheduled against Wake Forest on May 26, Sampson County on May 29, Raleigh Post 157 on June 2, Garner Nationals on June 17, and multiple matchups against Wilson on June 25 and July 1.

With the walkout songs cued and the hotdogs ready, the team invites fans to bring their chairs, family, and spirit to Carolina Athletic Park as Wayne County Post 11 aims to defend their championship and pursue another successful season.
