May 18, 2025, 69, Goldsboro —
Rebecca “Becky” Gurley Daniels, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord, went to be with her Savior Sunday, May 18 at the age of 69.
Born on February 15, 1956, she was a lifelong woman of faith who devoted her life to her family, her church and her community.
A proud graduate of Goldsboro High School, Class of 1974, Becky married the love of her life, Donald Cary Daniels on June 23, 1973. Together, they shared 52 beautiful years of marriage marked by unwavering devotion, spiritual commitment and mutual service.
Raised in the Church of God, Becky was a guiding light in her husband’s spiritual journey. Her steadfast faith and gentle influence helped lead him to pastoral ministry. They completed their ministerial internship at Adamsville Church of God, and soon after began their pastoral journey together. Their first appointment was at Deep Run, followed by Farmville Church of God, where they have faithfully served for over 20 years.
Becky was a devoted mother to her two sons, Donald “Donnie” Ray Daniels and his wife, Ashley of Beaufort and Cary Wayne Daniels of Cape Carteret. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Sara Beth, Martin, Charlotte and Sebastian. Becky found her greatest joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren; being called AmMa. She enjoyed boat rides and fishing trips with her boys. She and Donald made many memories taking mid week trips to the coast to watch the outdoor beauty while enjoying lunch by the water.
Becky served faithfully in every area of church life—whether leading women’s ministry, nurturing children’s programs, or supporting the behind-the-scenes work that kept the church strong. She was known for her quiet strength, her giving spirit, and her ability to find joy in the simple things- looking forward to snow days no matter the amount, listening for hours to her favorite gospel songs, crossword puzzles and hours spent doing church bookwork.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wyatt Ray Gurley and Hilda Jones Gurley. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald; sons, Donnie and wife, Ashley and Wayne; her cherished grandchildren; her brothers, Dennis Gurley and wife, Donna and Carlos Gurley and wife, Beth along with her beloved nieces and nephews.
Becky leaves behind a legacy of steadfast faith, selfless service and a deep love for her family and church. Becky’s life was a testimony to God’s grace and her memory will continue to bless all who knew her.
