Goldsboro, N.C. — The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that left one man injured on Tuesday, May 20.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1300 block of Florida Street around 1:53 a.m. While initial searches of the area did not reveal any evidence of a shooting, the investigation took a turn when officers were notified approximately 30 minutes later that a gunshot victim had arrived at UNC Health Wayne.
The victim, identified as 23-year-old Andrew Mckinley Jackson Jr. of Goldsboro, sustained a single gunshot wound to the hip. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later discharged from the hospital.
The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau has launched an active investigation into the incident. No arrests have been made at this time, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.
