Master Sergeant Andrew Aldeen Oakley, Retired United States Army, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Beaufort County on September 28, 1929, Andy was the son of the late Carl and Rachel Tripp Oakley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Irmgard Oakley and Edna Oakley, as well as his sisters, Eula Heath, Minnie House Hellickson, Doris O. Stewart and Ann O. Harris; and brothers, Eugene Oakley and J.P. Oakley.
A proud veteran, Andy faithfully served his country in the United States Army for 24 years, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. His military service reflected his deep commitment to duty, honor, and our country. After retiring from the Army, Andy continued his hardworking spirit by joining Goldtex in Goldsboro, where he devoted another 22 years before retiring again.
Andy was a man of faith and a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, where he found strength and community throughout his later years.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a graveside service, with full military honors, at 3:00 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Tucker, along with his 3 nephews, and extended family members whom he cherished deeply.
