Goldsboro, N.C. — A cherished Wayne County tradition is entering a new chapter. The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce it will now lead the beloved Taste of Wayne event, following a thoughtful transition from the United Way of Wayne County.
This change marks a collaborative effort between two key community organizations and reflects a shared dedication to the region’s well-being. The United Way, which has organized the event for the past 35 years, is shifting its focus toward core initiatives aimed at fighting poverty and promoting financial stability across the county.
“Taste of Wayne has united our community for more than three decades in celebration of local cuisine, culture, and connection,” said Janet Brock, Interim President of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce. “We are grateful for the United Way’s trust and for the opportunity to build upon the strong foundation they’ve created. Our mission to support local businesses and foster community engagement aligns naturally with the spirit of this event.”
The Chamber plans to infuse new energy into Taste of Wayne, leveraging its strong ties with the local food and business communities — connections already showcased through its successful annual Foodie Week. This transition represents a seamless extension of the Chamber’s role in supporting small businesses and curating experiences that celebrate local pride.
“This partnership exemplifies the spirit of collaboration that makes Wayne County stronger,” Brock added.
Sherry Archibald, Executive Director of the United Way of Wayne County, emphasized the significance of the decision. “As we move forward with a renewed focus on tackling poverty and advancing financial stability, it’s essential to prioritize initiatives that directly support that mission,” she said. “Taste of Wayne has been a joyful part of our history, and while stepping away was not an easy choice, we are confident the Chamber of Commerce is the right partner to carry this event forward.”
As the Chamber prepares to host future editions of Taste of Wayne, it aims to honor the event’s long-standing legacy while introducing fresh elements that reflect the community’s evolving culture and tastes.
