Goldsboro, NC – On May 15, 2025 A low-speed collision involving two vehicles took place earlier this week on North Paul Street, prompting a response from local law enforcement. The incident occurred during daylight hours and involved a 2003 Chevrolet and a 2019 Ford, with no injuries reported at the scene.
According to the preliminary investigation, the 2003 Chevrolet, identified as Vehicle 1, had exited a nearby highway and was attempting to turn onto North Paul Street, a residential and moderately trafficked thoroughfare. As the Chevy navigated the turn, a 2019 Ford, identified as Vehicle 2, was parked legally on the side of North Paul Street, facing north. The Ford was momentarily stopped as it was reportedly letting out passengers.
The situation escalated when the Chevrolet attempted to pass the parked Ford. At that precise moment, the Ford had just begun to move from a stopped position, apparently attempting to reenter traffic. This misalignment in timing led to the front end of the Chevrolet making contact with the Ford’s side panel, resulting in minor damage to both vehicles.
Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. No injuries were sustained by the drivers or any passengers. Emergency medical services were not required, and both vehicles were able to be moved safely from the roadway without the need for towing.
Witnesses and Scene Conditions
While there were no direct eyewitnesses who spoke on record, neighbors in the vicinity indicated that the intersection at North Paul Street and the nearby highway ramp is occasionally problematic due to visibility issues and drivers misjudging distances during turns or lane changes. The collision serves as a reminder of the importance of checking blind spots and ensuring clear right-of-way before reentering active lanes of traffic.
Law Enforcement Response
Officers from the Goldsboro Police Department responded promptly and documented the incident. At the time of this report, no citations had been issued, but the incident remains under review. Authorities are working to determine whether any traffic violations, such as failure to yield or improper passing, contributed to the crash.
Road Safety Reminder
While this accident did not result in injuries, officials stress that even minor misjudgments can lead to dangerous outcomes. Motorists are reminded to:
- Always signal and check mirrors before leaving a parked position.
- Be cautious of vehicles entering from side streets or turning from adjacent highways.
- Remain alert and drive defensively, particularly in areas with mixed traffic activity such as residential streets near main roads.
This incident follows a string of minor collisions in the area over the past several months, many of which occurred at intersections or involved vehicles reentering traffic. City officials have discussed implementing additional signage and visibility enhancements at key intersections like North Paul Street in response to resident concerns.
