WCPS Names Randy Meisenhelder as New Principal of Spring Creek Middle

Goldsboro, N.C. – The Wayne County Board of Education has announced the appointment of Randy Meisenhelder as the new principal of Spring Creek Middle School, effective July 1, 2025.

Meisenhelder, who currently serves as assistant principal at Spring Creek High School, will step into the role following the retirement of longtime principal Dr. Tammy Keel at the end of the current school year.

“Mr. Meisenhelder has a strong understanding of the Spring Creek community through his various administrative roles,” said Dr. Marc Whichard, superintendent of Wayne County Public Schools (WCPS). “His efforts to engage families, support student and staff success, and build school culture reflect his impressive leadership qualities. We look forward to supporting his transition and the work ahead to build upon the success already in place at Spring Creek Middle.”

Meisenhelder brings over 15 years of experience in education. He began his career in 2009 as a teacher at North Pitt High School and joined WCPS in 2015. He entered school administration in 2019 as a North Carolina Principal Fellow Intern, serving at Northwest Elementary and Norwayne Middle. He later served as assistant principal at Belvoir Elementary in Greenville before taking on his current position at Spring Creek High in 2022.

A dedicated educator and leader, Meisenhelder holds a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education, a master’s degree in English in Multicultural and Transitional Literatures, and a master’s degree in school administration. His excellence in leadership has been recognized with the distinction of WCPS Assistant Principal of the Year for two consecutive years.

“With more than 30 years of service as a teacher and school administrator, I would be remiss if I did not thank Dr. Keel for her leadership and dedication to public education,” added Dr. Whichard. “We wish her a well-earned retirement.”

Meisenhelder’s appointment signals a continued commitment to excellence at Spring Creek Middle, with district leaders expressing confidence in his ability to lead and inspire.
