George Ransom Toler Jr

May 6, 2025, 78, Goldsboro —

George Ransom Toler, better known as Junior, 78, slipped into the waiting arms of Jesus on the morning of May 6, 2025 surrounded by his wife, Shirley, and his three children.

Junior was born as the eighth of nine children in Wayne County on April 11, 1947 to the late Ransom and Leona Toler. While serving in the US Army, he fought in the Vietnam War and received two purple hearts and multiple other honors. He was the owner of Toler Construction that he founded in 1973. Junior was an avid fan of Duke basketball, loved to be outside fishing, cutting grass, and fighting those aggravating moles that annoyed him as much as when the Carolina Tarheels won a basketball game. Junior was a worshipper. He traveled and sang with “The Tolers,” a southern gospel singing group he had with his wife and children. He was a current member of Open Table Church in Fountain, NC.
