Barbara Jordan Turner, age 94, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on May 3, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chief Master Sergeant Harry Turner; her parents, Allen and Sallie Jordan; and her brothers, Charlie and Karl Jordan.

A visitation will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.  A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Chief Master Sergeant Harry M. Turner.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and pillar of her community, Barbara lived a life marked by faith, generosity, and heartfelt connection. She was known for opening her home during the holidays, hosting joyful Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings where everyone felt like family. Her warmth filled every room, and her sweet, welcoming spirit left a lasting impression on all who met her.

In the 1960s, Barbara served as an educator in the Head Start Program, nurturing the minds and hearts of young children. Her compassion extended well beyond the classroom—especially during the holidays, when she would bake, collect clothes and toys, and make special deliveries to children in need.

Later in life, Barbara pursued her love for antiques and hospitality, finding joy in serving others through her work in the antiques, floristry and restaurant business.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted member of Adamsville Baptist Church, Barbara taught Sunday school and served faithfully for many years, always seeking to reflect God’s love in word and deed.

One of Barbara’s most touching and enduring legacies was her unwavering commitment to making others feel seen, valued, and remembered. She had a gift for sending cards—birthday wishes, get-well messages, and simple notes of encouragement—that arrived just when people needed them most. She never forgot a special occasion or a moment of need, and those small acts of kindness left a deep impact on everyone fortunate enough to receive them.

Barbara’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always placing their well-being at the center of her life.

In her youth, Barbara was honored as Homecoming Queen at her high school, a reflection of the grace and poise she carried throughout her life.

She is survived by her nine children: Catherine Walker, Charlene (Dan) Ward, Dyna (Glenn) Jones, Jordan Turner, Donnie (Cheryl) Rarick, Chris (Erica) Rarick, Harryson (Madison) Turner, Carolyn Grady, and Susan Volin; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barbara will be remembered not only for her acts of service, but for the way she made others feel deeply loved and truly seen.
