Peggy Ann Johnson Myers, 80, passed away at her home in Smithfield on Thursday, May 1, 2025. She was born in Johnston County on May 17, 1944 to the late Champ and Alline Byrd Johnson. Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Lynn Johnson and Curtis Johnson; sisters, Wilma Teasley and Janice Whitman.
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35
Peggy truly knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive. Her generosity knew no boundaries. She was a loving mother and Mema and a beautiful soul who would help anyone. Peggy was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for the community. When she was not operating the Myers convenient stores or Myers Wholesale, she loved fishing in Sneads Ferry, NC. She was passionate about antiques and regularly visited estate sales and auctions. Barbies and dolls brought Peggy so much happiness. Above all, Peggy was a God-fearing woman who believed in the protection of His Angels and the everlasting love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Although Peggy’s departure leaves an unfillable void in our lives, we take comfort in the memories and unconditional love that we shared and have peace in knowing we will be reunited some day.
“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:7
She is survived by her husband, David Earl Myers; sons, David Wayne Myers (Vicky), Durwood Earl Myers and Chad Everette Myers (Angela); 11 grandchildren, Lauren Stevens (Travis), Dustin Myers (Stephanie), Landon Myers (Ashley), Tara Strother (Jonathan), Benton Myers (Hannah), Dylan Myers (Caroline), Maegan Myers (Steven), Keely Denning (Will), Courtney Hayes (Jackson), Brianna Myers, Kirsten Myers; 22 Great Grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Frankie Johnson and Joy Griffin.
