Goldsboro, N.C. — The City of Goldsboro is proud to announce January Hammond as its 2024 North Carolina Main Street Champion, a recognition that honors her unwavering commitment, leadership, and service to the community through the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation (DGDC).

Known for her dependability, tireless work ethic, and hands-on approach, Hammond has become a driving force behind downtown Goldsboro’s promotional and revitalization efforts. She began volunteering with the DGDC in 2021, quickly making an impression with her dedication and organizational skills. By 2022, she had earned a place on the board of directors and was named chair of the Promotions Committee—also serving on the DGDC’s executive committee.

In addition to her volunteer work, Hammond juggles two thriving professional roles: operations manager for a downtown pediatric dentistry practice and owner of Miz January Events, a successful event planning and logistics service. Her talents in both business and community engagement have played a key role in shaping downtown Goldsboro’s growing reputation for vibrancy and inclusivity.

Hammond has contributed more than 200 hours to the steering committee for the 2024 North Carolina Main Street Conference, further demonstrating her dedication to advancing downtown development not just locally, but statewide. Under her guidance, the Promotions Committee has continued to lead innovative campaigns and events that strengthen community pride and draw visitors to the heart of Goldsboro.

The North Carolina Main Street Champion award is given annually to individuals who make extraordinary contributions to their downtown districts. Hammond’s recognition places her among an elite group of changemakers who embody the spirit of revitalization and community leadership.
