May 1, 2025, 96, Goldsboro —
Bernard Pierre “Bernie” Galloway, 96, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Bernie was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Thomas Pierre Galloway and Edith Selby Galloway on January 16, 1929. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie France Galloway; grandson, Jeremy Galloway; and brother, Merle Galloway.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Bernie moved to Cumberland, Maryland where he spent nearly half of his life. Employed as a sales agent for the Donnelly agency, Bernie also committed his time and service to the Maryland National Guard. He was a proud scout leader for over twenty years with the Potomac Boy Scouts Council.
After leaving Cumberland, Maryland, Bernie moved south to Griffin, Georgia, where he spent nineteen years before moving to Goldsboro. A travel enthusiast, he enjoyed trips to many locations throughout the United States. Maintaining a great interest in remote control airplanes, Bernie enjoyed both building and flying the planes for many years.
As keen as Bernie was about airplanes, he was equally passionate about his prized electric blue Dodge Charger. Though he never drove it over 55 miles per hour himself, he was eager to tell everyone how fast it really could go. His Dodge fit his personality perfectly—bright, energetic, and always up for a new adventure.
While the family will honor Bernie’s life privately, no formal services will be held.
Bernie is survived by his children, Michael Galloway and wife, Connie Ann, Dave Galloway and wife, Kay, Kathleen Galloway, and Shawn Patrick Galloway; grandchildren, Melanie, Missy, Nick, Becky, Stephanie, Anthony, Seth, and Joey; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anne Elizabeth Seville.
