A Guardian Ad Litem advocate is a trained community volunteer who is appointed, along with a GAL Attorney Advocate, by a district court judge to investigate and determine the needs of abused and neglected children petitioned into the court system by the Department of Social Services. Many children facing challenging circumstances often feel voiceless and alone. By becoming a GAL Advocate Volunteer, you can help ensure that these children’s needs and best interests are represented in court and that they receive the support they truly deserve.
The program offers a comprehensive 6-week virtual training session for those interested in becoming advocates. Our next training is set for May 14, 2025 — June 18, 2025. No prior experience is necessary; just a compassionate heart and willingness to make a difference. We serve Wayne, Lenoir, and Greene Counties.
