April 5, 2025, 35, Goldsboro –
Summer Leah Elliott, 35, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2025, after a brave and enduring battle with brain cancer. Surrounded by her loving family and friends at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, she left this world with grace, knowing that she was deeply loved. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her family finds solace in the belief that she now rests in the eternal embrace of the Lord in Heaven.
A proud graduate of Lenoir Community College’s cosmetology program, Summer found her true calling as a hairstylist. Her time at Mystiques Salon in Goldsboro was not just a career but a passion—one that allowed her to build lasting relationships, offering her clients not only beautiful styles but kindness, warmth, and care. Her strength, resilience, and vibrant spirit touched everyone she encountered.
Summer is survived by her beloved son, Braylon Chance Gonzalez; her devoted parents, Susan Bivens Elliott and James Lewis Elliott, Jr.; her cherished sister, Hope Huang; and brothers, Trey Elliott (Ashley) and Andy Elliott (Christina). She is also lovingly remembered by her extended family, including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, each of whom was blessed by her presence and love.
Summer was preceded in death by her precious sister, Chasity Sunshine Elliott; as well as her grandmothers, Kathleen Bivens (Granny) and Rosemary Smith (Big Ma); and her grandfathers, Johnny Bivens and James Elliott. Though they have gone before her, their love and memories remain a guiding light in the hearts of her family.
A celebration of Summer’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with Rev. Josh Clark and Rev. Greg Nethercutt officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Cemetery in Seven Springs. Family and friends are invited to gather and share in a time of remembrance on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Summer’s honor to Cures for the Colors, SMOC, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, NC 27534, or to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University Hospital.
Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
