Eloise was born to Lonnie and Polke Smith on January 5th 1929. In addition to Eloise, her parents shared Giles, Edward, Joe, Doramae, LP, Charles, and Margie.
Eloise had two daughters and raised them as a single mother; working hard to provide for them and loved them immensely. Eloise also took care of her friend’s children and grandchildren who became long-time friends of the family.
Eloise could always be found tidying up a room, doing dishes, sweeping the floor or enjoying a McDonald’s cheeseburger. When able, she loved to go to her church of 34 years, see her siblings in Christ, and worship the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Giles, Edward, Joe, Charles, and Doramae.
Eloise’s memory and love is honored and passed on through her daughters Phyllis (Darryl) Johnson and Patricia (Bruce) Kelly; grandchildren Kenny (Amy) Kelly, Tina (Jaime) Jones, April (Tony) Harrell, and Katie (Aaron) Chegwidden; great-grandchildren Jordan (Ashley) Roberts, Ivy (Scott) Davis, Zachary (Alyssa) Kelly, Cameron (Brianna) Gooding, Jonathan Kelly, Danielle (Travis) Rose, Kelli (Trey) Pate, and Emma and Raelynn Chegwidden; and six great-great-grandchildren: Hope, Willow, Shepherd and River Roberts, Elijah Davis, Jaime Rose, Savannah Pate, and Georgia Gooding.
While the family and friends are heartbroken, we know Eloise would find comfort in Jesus. Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” There are many memories of Eloise- Momma, Grandma and Weise- that we will all cherish for the coming years.
Family and friends can be received at the home of Tina and Jamie Jones.
Her service will be held Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 7pm at Seymour Funeral Home with a visitation at 6pm. Burial will be Wayne Memorial Park Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11am. We ask that everyone dress comfortably. Eloise loved a good trip to Goodwill if you are set on getting something to wear just for her.
