March 19, 2025, 61, Goldsboro —
Lisa Bissette Wheeler peacefully departed this life and joyously entered her eternal reward on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. She was born on March 2, 1964, in Hampton, Virginia, to Joyce Perry Clark of Pikeville and the late Buck Bissette. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Dennis Wheeler.
Lisa was a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and went on to earn a degree in accounting from East Carolina University. Her love for learning led her back to Campbell University, where she earned her Master’s in Business. She dedicated over 20 years of service to Cooper Standard Automotive in Goldsboro before joining the finance department for Wayne County, where she was a valued and respected colleague.
Faith was a cornerstone of Lisa’s life. She was a devoted member of The Princeton Church, where she found joy in worshiping alongside her family and friends. She also cherished her time with the Friends and Fellowship small group, where she built meaningful and lasting relationships.
Lisa had a passion for life’s simple joys. She never turned down chocolate, diet coke, or pizza, and she found happiness in gathering with loved ones. Whether planning themed parties, tailgating at ECU games, or spending time on the water, Lisa had a gift for making every moment special. She enjoyed scrapbooking, crocheting, and playing Bunco with her dear friends, but above all, her greatest joy was found in the company of her husband, children, and especially her beloved granddaughter, River.
Lisa and Chris shared a beautiful journey of 42 years together and would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on June 2, 2025. Their love was a testament to devotion, partnership, and unwavering commitment.
Lisa’s legacy of love and kindness will be carried on by those who were blessed to know her. She is survived by her devoted husband, Chris Wheeler; daughters, Logan McCoy and husband, Drew, and Mackenzie Johnson and husband, Addison; and GiGi’s precious granddaughter, River McCoy. She is also survived by her loving mother, Joyce Perry Clark, and husband, Paul; mother-in-law, Doris Wheeler; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alan and Hope Wheeler; and a host of dear friends and extended family who she loved deeply.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at The Princeton Church, followed by a service celebrating Lisa’s life at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. A private interment will be held for the family at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Lisa’s honor to The Princeton Church, P.O. Box 546, Princeton, NC 27569, or to Goldsboro Worship Center, 900 W. New Hope Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
