James Eugene Trammell, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025. A devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, James was a man of unwavering dedication to his family and country. Jim was born February 26, 1935 in Greycourt, SC.  

Jim honorably served in the United States Air Force for 20 years as a fighter pilot, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His military career was marked by courage, leadership, and deep commitment to his fellow servicemen.  Jim served in the Vietnam War. Flying the F4 Phantom.  Following his service, he continued his professional journey as Vice President of Goldsboro Iron & Metal, where he worked until his retirement in 2012.

A man of integrity and warmth, Jim cherished time with his family above all else. Whether sharing stories of his time in the skies, fishing at the beach or enjoying the simple moments of life, he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth (Spivey); his mother, Bernice Ruth (Henderson); and his father, James Sheldon Trammell.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly (Paul) Noble; his son, John Trammell; his daughter, Lisa (Ray) Dissinger; and his daughter, Donna (Jeff) Phillips. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.

Jim’s legacy of love, service, and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
