Jennie Lynn Griffith Mackie, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family. Jennie was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia to the late Jesse and Alice Myers Griffith on January 29, 1946. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Larry Mackie; her granddaughter, Katie McCloud; and brothers, Paul Griffith and Dave Griffith.

Jennie was a valued employee of Strickland Insurance Group in Goldsboro for many years before her retirement.

Jennie attended The Bridge in Smithfield and was deeply devoted to her Lord. His love for her was exemplified through her deeds for others. She was a truly caring person that put the needs of others before her own.

Her love for cats and dogs was another hallmark of her life and we know she will be greeted in heaven by the many animals she adored and cared for over the years. She leaves behind her dear feline friends, Henry and Millie.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2025 in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Andy Stovall and Rev. Chris Turner presiding. The family will greet friends on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the home of Stephanie and Andy Anderson and also following the service on Sunday at the cemetery.

Jennie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Andy Anderson; grandchildren, Melissa Turner and husband, Chris, Braxton Allen McCloud, and Summer Scarlett McCloud; sister, Karen Askins (David Angeli); and several nieces and nephews she loved very much. Jennie is also survived by her dear friends, Brenda Tyndall, Faye Massey, and Denise Webb.
