January 25, 2025, 82, Goldsboro —
Lillian Carol Talton Green, 82, passed away peacefully at Kitty Askins Hospice center on January 25, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born in Johnston County to the late Leo Franklin Talton and Lillian Ballance Talton Radabaugh on October 28, 1942. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Billy Autry Green; brother, Billy Leo Talton; Sister in law, Seretha Green Ferrell; and brother in law, Herbert H. “Junebug” Green.
Family and church were everything to Carol, and was her greatest joy. She loved being a wife, mother, nanny, sister, aunt, and friend to others. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply and dearly, always putting them first. She always wanted to make sure her home was open to them, their friends, and others. She was ready to pull out the pots and pans to get a meal ready at a moment’s notice. She loved to cook for her family and friends, and cooking was a passion she enjoyed. Carol was always a woman with a servant’s heart and she loved giving of her time and talents to her beloved Pineview Baptist Church, serving on the benevolence committee, event planning committees, assisted with all youth related activities, and also served on the Daycare Board of the church. She loved serving at the nursing home on Sunday mornings helping the residents get to their church service. She was always the “behind the scenes” action member helping to get the job done. From an early age, she loved car racing. Sunday afternoons were dedicated to watching Nascar racing, and loved to watch Denny Hamlin. Beach trips, mountain trips, and Tennessee trips were among some of her favorite times she spent traveling with Billy and numerous family and friends.
Carol was known for her creative nature. She began her working career as a cosmetologist owning her own beauty shop in the Patetown community. She loved her time working at Britthaven Nursing Home serving the ladies that would come into the beauty shop for their “hair” day bringing a little joy to their world. She served as a teacher’s aide at North Drive School in Goldsboro and at Jamestown Elementary in Jamestown N.C. Her love for flowers led her to becoming a florist and working for several florists in Goldsboro and the Princeton areas, and she eventually opened up her own craft and florist store, Carol’s Crafts and Flowers until her retirement.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Carol’s life at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Wes Johnson and Pastor Danny Rollins officiating. Interment will be in the Pikeville Cemetery.
