Edna Earle Britt was born in Wayne County on June 9, 1944, to the late Jonah Britt and Leadie Berry Britt. She passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center in Wilson, NC. 

Edna graduated from Dillard High School and moved to Washington, D.C. to further her education in Business Administration. She worked for the government for a few years before returning to Goldsboro. 

Edna was a very soft-spoken person who loved to laugh. Shopping was one of those things that she loved to do. Edna loved her family and friends. 

She had four sisters and six brothers that preceded her in death, Annie Mae Feaster, Eunice McElroy, Alice Gooding, and Amanda Britt; Rufus, Glen, Mozell, James (J.P.), Roosevelt Britt, and Willie Gooding.

She leaves to cherish her memory, six nieces, Patricia Lowery (Derrick) of Raleigh, NC, Rosa Speight, Barbara Worrell (Earl), Pastor Thelma Davis, Shirley Gooding, and Crystal Gooding; three nephews, Timothy Arrington, Eddie Britt, and John Thomas Britt; special cousins, Charles Holloman and Rita Ann Holloman; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service to celebrate Edna’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Thelma Davis officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Seymour Funeral Home.
