Wenonah Dianna DeLoach Mendoza, age 72, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Dayton, OH, she was the daughter of the late Jeannette Deloach Peterson. Wenonah was the manager of Parkside Florist for many years and served with the Red Cross as a case worker. She served the Red Cross as the armed services case worker at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, Columbus Air Force Base in Columbus, MS, and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, NC.
A service to celebrate Wenonah’s life will be held on Saturday, August 10th at 2:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Mr. Rudy Peedin and Rev. Jim Wiloughby officiating. The family will greet friends on Saturday at the funeral home following the service. The committal service will be held Monday, August 12th at 12:00 noon at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Wenonah is survived by her husband, Roberto Mendoza; her daughters, Dawn Nelms and husband, Donnie, and Cassandra Pfeifle and husband, Jason and Janet Grice and her husband, Kenneth; and her sister-in-law, Debra James.
