Billy Jake Johnson, 92, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington. Born in Lebanon, Tennessee on May 22, 1931, he was the son of the late Enos H. and Day Hatcher Johnson.
In addition to his parents, Jake was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Norma Shillinglaw Johnson, and sister, Bobbie Jo Alston.
Jake is survived by his daughter, Michelle Johnson Sell, and her husband, Michael.
Jake was recognized in his school days as a Who’s Who Among High School Students. He loved sports and excelled on the football field and basketball court.
Jake proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Air Force after 26 ½ years during which he earned a Bronze Star. Following his retirement, he worked in Civil Service with the Air Force.
While living in Goldsboro, Jake was a member of Adamsville Baptist Church.
Jake and Norma loved being together and enjoyed going on cruises together. He was a jokester and enjoyed supplying his family and friends with a good laugh. Jake’s smile, laughter, and whistle will be missed.
