WCC Global Scholars and Honors Students to Showcase Work

WCC Global Scholars and Honors Students to Showcase Work

Wayne Community College will hold its annual showcase of work from the Scholars of Global Distinction and Honors Program students.

“A Global Experience Honoring Your World” will be held on Thursday from 6–8 p.m. in the Wayne Learning Center (the building with the flag poles in front). It is free and open to the public to attend.

Honors and Global Scholars are preparing immersive experiences, interactive and informational displays, research posters, presentations, and more related to one or more of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The event’s aim is to inspire participants to value international and community connections, solutions, and culture.

At least 35 different projects from 88 students will be showcased, the most of any year so far.

The projects will cover topics such as “Hunger in Our Homes,” “Growing the Minds of Our Youth,” “A Simulation Experience of Education in South Sudan,” “The Many Faces of Pollution,” and “Tiny Wonders of Plankton and Macroinvertebrates.”

All guests will receive a passport and earn stickers as they learn about the Sustainable Development Goals and the many global and local topics students have been investigating. Those who complete their passports will receive a souvenir prize.

A bilingual (English and Spanish) tour guide will be present.
