Shots Fired Monday Afternoon at Local Ministry

A tense situation unfolded Monday afternoon at Hope Extended, a ministry in the Rosewood area.

At approximately 1:15 pm, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding an armed subject standing in the parking lot of Hope Extended Ministry Center located at 1138 Rosewood Road, Goldsboro.

The caller advised that the subject was waving a firearm in the air and had fired several shots. Wayne County deputies responded to the scene and made contact with the subject.

After a short stand-off, the subject, Zachary Hardison, 36, Clayton, surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody.

Once Hardison was taken into custody, detectives began processing the area for evidence.

While conducting their investigation, detectives found at least one window that had been shot
out at the Hope Extended Ministry Center building.

At the time of the incident, two occupants were inside the building; however, at this time, detectives have been unable to determine if those individuals were being targeted.

During this incident, three Rosewood community schools were briefly placed on a soft lockdown.

As a result of this incident, Hardison, of 348 Riverwood Drive, Clayton, has been arrested and charged with the following charges:

3 counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling
1 count of resisting arrest
