Edward Earl “Eddie” Jones, 79, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Goldsboro. He was born in Wayne County to the late Earl and Alice Davis on May 13, 1944. He was later adopted by his parents, the late Emmitt and Ada Jones of Goldsboro.
Serving his country as a soldier in the United States Army, Eddie served through two tours of Vietnam as well as an additional tour in the Korean War. Recognized for his dedication to his country and exceptional valor, he received numerous decorations, including a Bronze Star.
Eddie married Rose Williams Jones, and the two raised their family in Las Vegas, NV. While living in Las Vegas, Eddie was the owner and operator of Homes and More. After a successful career and a few years of retirement, Eddie married Katherine Price Jones and the two made their home in Newport, NC. There, he found a love for boating and fishing, two hobbies to which he constantly looked forward. Though Newport became home, the love of travel remained and the two spent many years traveling all over the United States.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with military honors. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Eddie is survived by his son, Tony Boyette; two daughters, Debbie Bryan, and husband, Dennis and Pamela Foster; grandchildren, Brittany Warford, Daniel Bryan and wife, Jennifer and Phillip Bryan and wife, Kelly; sisters, Lowrise Howell and Bernice Davis; and a special nephew, Al Thompson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Williams Jones, and wife, Katherine Price Jones; brother, Emmitt Earl Jones, Jr. and sisters, Louise Grant and Elouise Newsome.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.
