Pfeiffer Appointed to NCIOM Board of Directors

Wayne Community College President Patty Pfeiffer has been appointed to the North Carolina Institute of Medicine (NCIOM) Board of Directors.
The NCIOM works to identify evidence-based solutions to the state’s health challenges and to shape health policy. For over 40 years, it has served as a non-political, independent source of analysis and advice on major health issues in NC, aimed at improving population health, healthcare access, and healthcare quality.The board of directors appoints members to the NCIOM who participate in activities like task forces, work groups, publications, conferences, and professional networking opportunities.Pfeiffer and three other newly appointed board members began their four-year terms on Jan. 1. The board of directors meets on a quarterly basis.Individuals serving on the board are appointed by the NC Governor, the NC Speaker of the House, and the NC Senate President Pro Tempore.Pfeiffer’s experience in the healthcare field includes working as a nurse before becoming an educator. She started at WCC as a nursing instructor before becoming the Nursing Department chair and dean of the Allied Health and Public Services Division.The North Carolina Institute of Medicine (NCIOM) is forward-looking and focused on solutions.
