On Oct. 2, the Wayne County Board of Education held its regularly scheduled monthly meeting. Dr. Tim Harrell, Assistant Superintendent of Support Services, presented a conceptual design for the Rosewood Middle School project.
Harrell shared information about the project’s Working Group and its efforts to walk the campus, review conceptual designs, and come to a consensus on a conceptual design and the work that needs to be completed. Following Harrell’s presentation the Board unanimously approved the conceptual design 7-0 with Board Member H. Len Henderson abstaining.
Dr. Harrell then shared information about its previous school construction projects and the Construction Manager At Risk (CMAR) delivery method it used to complete the projects. Recognizing the potential cost savings, the Board unanimously approved the CMAR process.
Once a guaranteed maximum price is determined by the CMAR, all construction costs for the Rosewood Middle Project will be listed within a single contract for the Wayne County Board of Education to review and consider before approving.
