Princeton Mayor Rains Files for Re-Election

Princeton – Princeton mayor Don Rains, a local businessman and community leader, has filed for re-election.

“Princeton is in the middle of significant community projects such as drainage, water and sewer improvements, and we continue to raise funds to complete the construction of the new community center,” Rains said. The new center will be a venue for family and town events, as well as the Town Library. We have renewed economic success in our community, and I see an even brighter future with the completion of Interstate 42. Our community needs leadership that reaches out and involves the community. We know that change will be coming in our community but we will be prepared by supporting the vision and plans for growth.”

Mayor Rains added, “Proven leadership and the ability to seek grants and other resources is how we have always taken care of Princeton and keeping it as a special community in Johnston County. We may be small but “mighty”. We have pride in our town, our public schools, and churches, as well as each other. He hopes he has contributed to that pride. He and his family love Princeton and its citizens,”

Rains is a lifelong resident of Princeton. He graduated from Princeton High School and East Carolina University. He is married to Vicky Rains and has a son, Logan and a daughter Anna. Rains is also active in Princeton United Methodist Church, Princeton Lions Club, and St. Patrick’s Masonic Lodge. While servng as mayor, Rains has chaired Triangle J Council of Government, NC Association of Council of Governments Forum, and US 70/I-42 Commission.

“Our town has been awarded major grants for flood mitigation to improve drainage,” said Rains. “We are also completing a design for a new sewer plant and completing the process for grants and financing the facility. Our future is dependent on having the infrastructure to support residential and commercial growth. Developing a capital improvement plan to pave existing streets and add sidewalks is also essential. I need and would appreciate your support for re-election to move these major projects forward.”
