On Friday afternoon, firefighters from Grantham were dispatched to a vehicle collision involving an 18-wheeler on Stevens Mill Road, just west of Beaver Dam Road. Upon arrival, fire and EMS personnel discovered that a small pickup truck and an 18-wheeler had collided in a curve. Unfortunately, the driver of the pickup truck sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital by Wayne County EMS station 3 personnel. The North Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident.
