February 15, 2023, 89, Smithfield –

David Earl Toler, 89, of Smithfield passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.  He was born in Johnston County on February 10, 1934, to the late Henry Nicholas Toler and Nettie Jane Wiggins Toler.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Toler Daughtery; sisters, Christine Willoughby, Pearline Worley, and Katie McClung, and two infant brothers; mother of his children, Phyllis Toler Lane; and his companion of 40 years, Mary Frances Jenkins.

He is survived by his daughter, Belinda “Lynn” Toler Best and husband, Tom Best of  Clinton; grandchildren, Shannon Best and Erica Best Faircloth and husband, Pat Faircloth; great-grandchildren, Tyler Mattocks, Brookelynn Faircloth, and Patrick Faircloth, Jr. as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.
