John Robert Gray

John Robert Gray

January 4, 2023, 52, Goldsboro –

John Robert Gray, 52, was welcomed into the loving arms of his Savior on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, while surrounded by his family. He was born in Orlando, Florida to Jerry and Joyce Gray of Goldsboro on May 20, 1970.

From the beginning of his life, John was a fighter, not one to give up. He was diagnosed with Spina Bifida at an early age, but he refused to let that define him. John was determined to do as much as he possibly could. While his disability meant he was limited, it afforded him the privilege of spending much of his time with his mama. This was a gift for them both. He was able to help her with most any project she was doing. He enjoyed his time with her working in the yard or volunteering at church. They made quite the team and their bond was special.

John was passionate about sports. His favorite sport was football and you could see the excitement in his eyes when the season rolled around. He was a graduate of Pinellas Park High School in Pinellas Park, Florida, and later attended some classes at the technical college.

John loved his Lord and Savior. He was initially a member of Riviera United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida until his move to Goldsboro. He soon found his place and enjoyed worship at Daniels Memorial Chapel Church. John’s kindness, love, and dedication will be missed.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate John’s life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Andy Rose to officiate.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Tim Brady; nephew, Kyle Brady; niece, Abi Brady; Aunt and Uncle, Angela and Tim Horne; Aunt and Uncle, Shirley and Matt Barrett; and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in John’s memory to
